Rashid Johnson: Black and Blue is a dynamic publication produced on occasion of Johnson’s 2021 eponymous exhibition at David Kordansky Gallery in Los Angeles. The catalogue includes a beautiful new essay by poet, journalist, and translator Rowan Ricardo Phillips in which he explores the exhibition's title as it relates to music, poetry, and literature that have informed Johnson’s practice. The book features detail, installation, and multiple views of Johnson’s totem works, untitled anxious bruise drawings, bruise paintings, and stills from his film, Black and Blue.
Black and Blue is published by David Kordansky Gallery and designed by 12:01—Office of Hassan Rahim, New York.
